Workshops & Events
All workshops are held at Art from the Heart studios, which is based in Harrogate and are available for participants that are 16 and over. The studio is based next to our shop, so you can also have an all important browse while you attend.
.
All equipment is provided, unless stated in the workshop description. There is no need to bring any supplies with you, unless stated - we do that for you! The very important tea and coffee is also provided to keep you fuelled for the day. Each workshop will allow a break for lunch and you can either bring your own or we are in the same building as Indulge Deli, who serve a range of sandwiches, salads, soups, jackets and more.
.
The studio is on the first floor, but we do have a lift at the far end of the building for those that need access. There are male and females toilets located on the first floor, along with an additional disabled toilet on the ground floor.
.
For workshops starting at 10am, the shop will open from 9:30am, so please come in and register with us before the workshop starts (first door on the left). The studio will open at approx 9:45am and the workshop will start at 10:00am.
Come and join Dyan for a day full of festive journaling and maybe a few mince pies, but we can't guarantee that Dyan won't be singing though....
Your art journals are a great place to play, experiment and express yourself. Kate has some *new* quirky character stamps which are a great for adding to your art journal pages. We’ll begin with painted backgrounds, lots of stencilling, and maybe even some printing. We’ll use paints, alcohol inks, watercolours, crayons and anything you else you fancy, and we’ll focus on layering your backgrounds to build something you love. We’ll then look at how character stamps can work for you and how you can use them to express yourself. It will potentially be messy so bring an apron!
A Travelers Notebook (often affectionately shortened to TN) from the Travelers Company can be your very best arty friend! But it’s not just for traveling, it’s an arty companion that can travel anywhere and everywhere with you. It can be your ‘go-to’ journal for note taking, collage, sketching, stamping, mixed media … as well as the more mundane shopping lists and the ever important ‘to-do’ lists. And sometimes you just want to write for the sake of writing – a diary, song lyrics, quotes … anything! Of course it’s also a great place to use up your stash of washi tape and stickers (and we all love a good sticker) as well as try out your fountain pens and lovely inks. Kate will treat this day as a series of mini workshops including mixed media collage, drawing, setting up a Common Place book (more on that later) so you can aim to do everything or pick and choose your way through the day. This will be a low pressure, not too messy, fun kind of a day with plenty of time to play.
Flying fairies, stripey Christmas trees, grumpy dumpy Christmas gnomes … it’s all available in the new Christmas stamp collection from Kate. We’ll begin with a quick printing session giving you backgrounds to use throughout the morning on smaller tags and cards. In the afternoon we’ll put together a cute, cute Christmas mobile. A scrap of driftwood or a length of bamboo, some acetate or duralar, then your favourite stamps with a few tags and some scraps of ribbon make for a wonderful quirky Christmas decoration. And don’t forget the glitter! This is a project that can take a bit of time but it is very easy to start small and then add to, so you can go as big or small as you like. And Kate will show you how. Happy Christmas!
If you're a fan a of fountain pens, come and join the fun at the Pelikan hub with a group of fellow fountain pen fans. It's a very social gathering to talk about fountain pens, inks, papers and everything fountain pen related.
Bring along your fountain pens, inks and papers
