**Shachihata - Zikakel Base Pen - Brush Tip
is a base pen for masking tape that can be written without peeling off even with water-based ink when applied to masking tape and dried. Using ink that is compatible with mt masking tape, you can enjoy decoration using masking tape with your favorite water-based pen, fountain pen, or glass pen.
Use your favourite pens on top of your favourite washi tapes! Use the pen over the top of your washi tape, the ink will leave an invisible layer over the top of the washi, leave to dry for approx 30 secs and write over the top - it's as easy as that!

Dries in just 30 seconds - apply the pen over the tape, leave to dry for 30 seconds and then you can write over the top.

A coating pen that does its job!
I found out about this pen in a Youtube video and immediately went on googling where can I get this pen in the UK. This pen makes it so that you can write on washi tape with your favourite pen (even fountain pen!). It does so by coating the washi tape, priming the surface for writing on. I haven't seen anything like that before.
On the photo, rose gold is the cheap foil tape from Aliexpress, the coating pen improved the surface but didn't completely fix it. The other tape on the right is washi tape from Japan, printed on washi paper. And there the difference is drastic! I used a Kaweco fountain pen with an F nib and Wearingeul Anubis ink. Just like with any coloured surface, even though you can write on it does not mean it will be legible, because the colour may blend with a motley background, but the fact is that a fountain pen writes and stays on washi tape after priming the surface with this wonder. The drying time of the primer is about 10 seconds, but sometimes I'd just impatiently write on it beforehand and the surface took it well.
Definitely want to order again from afth, their service was terrific and they kept me up to date throughout the entire process.
