Night Collection

In this new collection we have stepped well outside our comfort zone, creating by hand every single ink from 99% Australian sourced ingredients, and sourcing some new and very expensive ingredients not used before. We have utilized higher quality shimmers that flow better, distribute more evenly, adhere more effectively and, in one particular ink, are iridescent. We have also used some new dyes that produce some incredible sheening effects and some interesting chromatography. We have pushed some of inks to the limit of saturation, with some monster sheening inks to take on any of the competition on the market, and on the polar opposite of the spectrum, we have made some super-light shaders that still manage to flow incredibly well in just about any pen.We have also invested a huge amount of time and money into scientifically analyzing each and every ink for specific characteristics.

Van Dieman Inks - Series #8 Night - 50ml Dusk

A light shading ink representing the shadow of the sun going down. This is Van Dieman's least saturated ink, and our lightest every grey to date. Dusk has subtle hints of purply blue, like the sky after sunset, and with some amazing shading. Dusk still flowing fairly wetly due to a low surface tension and slightly higher viscosity, despite the low dye content

Van Dieman Inks - Series #8 Night - 50ml Moon Flower

This color is based on the delicate Moon Flower that only blooms at night. Bats and other nocturnal creatures eat its nectar. A "beautiful blue" is the best way to describe Moon Flower, a combination ink of too high quality dyes, mixed to a perfectly balanced saturation; not too light so as to appear washed out; not so heavy as to be overshadowed by sheen; just enough to be rich and to stand out by its own right. The hue of Moon Flower sits on the warmer side of blue, with light violet variations in heavier writing and ample shading in all pen and ink combinations.

Van Dieman Inks - Series #8 Night - 50ml Night Owl

Night owl is based upon an owl eyes through the trees at night. This exquisite orange is highly saturated with a gold sheen on good quality fountain pen paper. This ink is fairly wet writing and very well behaved in almost any fountain pen.

Van Dieman Inks - Series #8 Night - Dawn

Dawn is inspired and highly representational of the last lingering moments of night, just before the sun bursts triumphantly over the horizon, when refracted and reflected light bounce and dance blindingly on the clouds and sky. Dawn is a supersaturated ink with a bright, hot pink undertone, almost overpowered by a golden sheen that mottles and blends with the pink underneath to create an array of orange hues, much like the sky at dawn.
