The Indigo Dyeing collection is one of our first collections, which was inspired by Lennon Toolbar's original profession. In the promotion of indigo dyeing, it suddenly dawned on me how pity it would be that people only purchase indigo dyeing products for it is a tradition or something that needs to be passed on. The colour that comes from indigo dyeing has its profound beauty. If people can truly appreciate these colours for what they are, the colours of indigo dyeing might have a chance to be passed on forever. So, we used chemical techniques to recreate the original colours of indigo dyeing or the colours that appear during the process. We hope that you could choose these colours just because you love them for no reason, not because they are one part of a traditional craft. I think...this is what true love means!

Lennon Tool Bar was founded in 2014 at Tamsui, Taiwan. Initially they produced and promoted the art and craft of Indigo Dyeing, a business that flourished a century ago when Taiwan exported a considerable amount of “doroai” — or the raw material of colourants used in Indigo Dyeing — to the Japanese Empire.
