Lennon Tool Bar - 30ml Ink - Guardian Beasts - Komainu

Guardian Beasts refer to the loyal protectors often seen in Taiwanese traditional beliefs. Some guard temples, others preserve history, some calm strong winds, and others have served under different religious beliefs. These guardian beasts silently safeguard people across Taiwan.

In the past, many shrines were established in Taiwan, but after the departure of the Japanese government, these shrines gradually declined and were converted into temples. However, many Komainu statues remained, quietly residing in the newly transformed temple grounds, continuing to protect the people of Taiwan.

Lennon Tool Bar was founded in 2014 at Tamsui, Taiwan. Initially they produced and promoted the art and craft of Indigo Dyeing, a business that flourished a century ago when Taiwan exported a considerable amount of “doroai” — or the raw material of colourants used in Indigo Dyeing — to the Japanese Empire.
