As you all know I am renowned for my love of quotes and this book is dedicated to that. Gorgeous floral Laura Ashley papers combined with bird images and acetate pages. Filled with quotes to ignite your inspiration.
Bunting is all the rage at the moment and appearing everywhere. But have you seen the price of it? Come make your own to co ordinate with your furnishings. We will be decorating canvas with inks, paints and Dylusions stamps, cutting the shapes, padding slightly and assing the bias binding to finish. Although I have 2 sewing machines, there is a lot of sewing and it would be extremely useful for you to have your own to work on.

Come and discover the grungy and more expressive side of art journaling. Sometimes you want to go a bit further in your art journal and truly express yourself through colour, marks and words. These pages may be edgy, grungy and even a little ugly, but they will represent YOU. Kate will talk you through some mark making techniques and help you to loosen up with your art style by freely creating with wild colour and carefree mark making!
Bring an art journal for practicing in, and then make an accordion style journal to experiment with your new found freedom!
Optional: Paints and various colours are provided in the studio, but feel free to bring along any personal favourites such as coloured pencils.

Another chance to find out what these Gelato Pens are all about: we will spend some time in the morning session discovering lots of different techniques, including ways with fabric, using them with texture paste, embossing folders in the Bigshot and much more. Then we will put these techniques to good use by making a range of gorgeous cards using a variety of stamps (choose from Tim Holtz stamps, Stampotique, Dina Wakely, La Blanche or Pam Carriker to name a few!) or if you’re not a card maker, you may prefer to work in your journal… choices, choices, choices…..
As you know I have always been a fan of the gorgeously talented Dina Wakley, and this accordion book is made to honour her. Her style, her stamps, her quirkiness, her eclecticness. Gesso resist, paint washes, ink sprays, hand stitch binding, tissue tape finishing, inserts, flaps, acetate embossing, stamping and book page collage. Do I need to say any more?

The journal measures approximately 2.5 x 3.5 inches and is packed full of techniques that we will cover on the day.
I had great fun making this from my downloads. You will be learning various techniques, including, paint effects, doodling and collage. A really fun quirky addition to your home, kitchen or office.
Every one knows I love my quotes. I have collected loads, but can never find them when I need them, so I am always designing books especially for them. I thought I would make this a little different. It is a bit like an art journal. Painty, papery, stampy, collagey...But you don't have to come up with any words, that's all done for you in the way of the quotes. Simples. It would be useful to bring along a couple of magazines to pick images from. Glossy Sunday paper mags are ace. The journal is not intended to be finished in class, just to give you a hefty leg up, lol.

Wondering where to store your ATC's from swaps? Join me and I will show you how to create a book to store your mini works of art in. We will also create and swap some ATC's too.
An extra large, handmade journal filled with envelopes as well as pages, beautifully decorated in the gorgeous, Bisouz Hot paper range and a sprinking of 7gypsies Paddington range for contrast. Bisouz have always inspired me with their designs and have now teamed up with Stampers Anonymous to make co-ordinating sheets of stamps. I have been in my element playing with these and I just know you will be too.
Many of you have oohed and aahed over my sample boards from CHA Chicago. Now’s your chance to make some of your own. We will start the day by all following steps to recreate one, and once you gain confidence you will have the chance to make one of your own design.

Postcards…create fabulous backgrounds with the Dylusions pant and inks, add mages with the new stamps from Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi, add the fashionable curled wire and you have yourself some cool art.
Atc’s…you know the concept behind these miniature works of art was to meet like minded people and own a piece of their artwork? So that’s the challenge for today, make at least one for swapping!
Where else would you rather be on Valentines day than with me, lol. Well you will be making a gorgeous Heart canvas. Paint effects, stamping, doodling, grunge, nix in a sprinkling of laughter and voila, your own masterpiece will appear before your very eyes. Perfect to present to your loved one when he takes you out that evening.
Suzi Blu’s art journaling style has been much admired by many, and AFTH are now stocking Suzi’s stamp range which is excellent news for all art journalers! Kate will show you some tips and tricks for colouring and shading these images, as well as ideas and suggestions for creating a beautiful background and incorporate images onto the page.
Tim has a fabulous range of papers called Kraft resist. They are fabulous designs printed onto Kraft coloured paper with a patterned clear resist over the top! Intrigued?
We will be playing with gesso and the wonderful Distress stains for stunning results. With the addition of hand binding, stamping, add ins and book page collage. This will be the first of many added to your collection!

Make your own concertina style journal from scratch using an every day lunch bag! We’ll fill the interior with a variety of pages, with added tags and pockets, and then create the front and back covers using recycled corrugated card. We’ll create and decorate the covers with our very own hand-painted deli paper alongside vintage text, scraps of fabric and some scrapbook papers, all artily stitched together!
Ladies, how about a little piece heaven to adorn your arm? We all know how hard authentic vintage pieces are to come by, so we’ve created a ‘new’ old school classic, a veritable delight of authentic 50s kitsch chic arm candy just for you.
Using the exquisite ‘Bird Song’ from Graphic 45 this bodacious beauty can be created in a choice of colour schemes and we know you’ll be crazy keen to make a plethora of them because they make great make up bags, party favour bags for teens and wouldn’t they make a delightful way to store all your pens pens/pencils etc

Yes a card class, I don't seem to include that many these days. These stamps from Paper Artsy caught my eye a while ago, but I have only just had time to play with them, and I love them. They are suitable for all ages and both sexes,lol. I had to be stopped creating with them..!!
In this class you'll learn how to build up many layers of mixed-media to achieve a rich and interesting background, then you'll use gesso to build up texture and form and use special paints to make a beautiful shimmering seahorse. You'll learn many mixed-media techniques that will allow you to start creating your own mixed-media canvases at home too.
A technique packed day. We will be collaging, glazing and colour mixing and altering book pages with Claudines paints,. This is your chance to try her multi mediums and her sticky back canvas. And if that isn't enough you will also be playing with Grunge Board and the new Grunge Paper
Love this class, and so does everyone who's seen the sample. We will be recycling a 2009 diary into a compact journal perfect for your handbag. Strengthening, collaging, painting, stamping, doodling, cutting, sticking and enjoying. Phew that's a lot - so I,ve given you an extra hour.!! Again this workshop is not expected to be completed in the day, it is a work in progress for you to finish in your leisure
The smell of melting beeswax gently calms and relaxes you as well as adding a highly professional touch to your work. We will be having fun making 12 inky, stampy collaged tags, using stamps from Stampotique (Janet Klein collection), Tim Holtz and Dylusions. After finishing them with beeswax we will store them in the co-ordinating tin you will have prepared.
If you are a Graphic 45 fan, you will adore the two mini books on offer from me today. First up is this lovely, made using the Botanical Tea range of papers. I will teach you how to make a sturdy hinge that you will use again and again in your book making. We’ll make a range of lovely tags to sit in those adorned pages. A very strokable project indeed!

I love painting anything to do with the sea and when we include mixed media in it it makes it even more exciting and unique. In this class there's no need to draw all you need to do is tear some paper. We'll be using paper, card, acrylic paint, mini misters, distress ink refills, stencils, white sharpie pens, Faber Castel Pitt pens, Ice Stickles, stamps, distress stain and gesso. We'll be using just about everything in the art studio! There'll be lots of fun and lots of mixed-media techniques that you learn and use again and again.

Oh how we love to stroke beautiful things! And this journal is definitely worthy to be stroked!
The pages are made up of lovely artistico fabriano paper and painted grungily. We will then use the fabulous Tim Holtz stencils to add some layers (one of my favourite things to do to bring texture to a page)
The binding of the book will include some machine stitching to give this gorgeous journal its handmade and authentic look.
Using the fabulous Bisous papers, we will create a house shaped mini book, complete with pockets and flaps. The backgrounds are all paint effects.

A stunning album for that feisty princess in your life. Its sturdily made from wood and best of all its handbag shaped. What more could you want girlies. There is a certain vogue at the moment for all things whimsy, which people love. But I am constantly told by everyone that they struggle with faces. Today’s the day to get to grips with it. You will learn how to bring those faces to life, whether you can draw or not. We will be sketching and then painting a variety of faces. I can guarantee you will be amazed.
We will take a simple plain box and alter it using the stunning 7Gypsies ‘Conservatory’ range of papers to make this lovely vintage style project; it houses a tri-fold book stuffed with tags of vintage gorgeousness and lovely garden quotes.
There is something irresistible about creating on such a tiny scale! We’ll take some plain white matchboxes, age them with Distress Inks and then decorate them using *new* stamps by Dina Wakley. We’ll create some background papers with Dylusions ink sprays, stencils and gesso, and then make mini journal prompt cards and teeny tiny journals to fit inside. You may even want to create a tiny keepsake out of paper clay to nestle inside your finished box.
Perfect for giving away as a gift, or for keeping yourself and writing your life story. In miniature, of course.
An old favourite of mine revamped with the gorgeous Mykonos papers from 7gypsies. Pockets, flaps and tags on an accordion, make the inner. The outer is a lush box frame. Makes a wonderful display piece.

Texture, texture everywhere! We’ll use a blank 7 Gypsies journal and grunge it up using Tim Holtz papers, book pages, gesso and grunge letters. Then we’ll fill the pages up with hidden pockets, flaps, tags, messages, stamping, embossing and die cuts, with a whole host of techniques from painting, distressing to embossing and clever paper folding.
I made these back in June when it was red hot everywhere. I put carols on to get me in the mood and then got so engrossed I didn't want to stop. I half expected it to be snowing outside, lol. Lots of inking and stamping, additions of Grunge and Idea-ology hardware and the finishing touches of Distress Stickles. Simples...!!!

Mail art is so much fun to make and even better when you get your own through the letterbox too. In this class we'll be using just about everything in the studio to make your own mixed-media mail art with your own personal designs. We'll be using stencils, paint, ink, stamps and doodling until your heart is content and you can make as many as you can fit in the class to take home. I'll show you how to make the envelopes and to make some fun things to put inside too.
Every time I do a quote book it is a massive hit. I think you are all as hooked on them as me. This year I have been trying to find inspirational ones and this is a collection of some of my favourites, with the odd sarcastic one thrown in ( oh yes..!!) . We will be decorating a tall 10 x 5 chipboard album from Delish Designs, with beautiful Laura Ashley flocked papers . A sprinkling of paint, a splattering of fragments, toss in some tags and add cabouchons to taste. The perfect antidote to our stressful lives( or is that just me ?).

A truly gorgeous set of wooden display cubes, shaped like a beach house. Decorated in Graphic 45 papers for that vintage feel. The cubes are filled with treasures and finds, an accordion fold out book, paper Mache crackled wings and even a message in a bottle. Please bring along any beach mementos of your own.
This is going to be soooo popular. It is one of my weekend workshops that I have adapted for you. 12 pockets on a reversible back board for you to store all your bits n pieces. Theres even a place for your pencil and sticky notes.

My newest passion is making journals out of primed canvas sheets. We will be inking, pain ting, spraying, stitching - yes I did say stitching, hand and machine. We will be adding trims, tags, flaps and pockets. Then for the finishing touches we will be stamping and doodling. Like me you will be unable to stop at one!
This workshop was so popular last year, I think I ran it 4 times altogether. We will be making a stunning Christmas centrepiece with the cutest little drawers, just waiting to be filled with coins, forfeits or little gifts. Can be used year after year.
