Terms and Conditions

All workshops require full payment at the time of booking

Workshops are not refundable, but if cancelled 14 days or longer before the workshop we will transfer your money to another AFTH regular workshop/s.If  you need to cancel a workshop place that has previously been transferred, we will have to fill your place before transferring * If booking a full weekend workshop with Dyan we will need 28 days notice if you wish to cancel. We will always try to sell on your place on a workshop if you are unable to attend and if we manage to sell on your place we will issue you with an AFTH workshop credit. We reserve the right to cancel classes, but in such instances you will receive a full refund.

Unless specified all workshops are for adults only (16yrs upwards).

When you come to the checkout and you are booking classes only please use the Class Bookings only option in the postage field. If you are booking workshops from outside the EU, there will be VAT to pay on your booking. We will contact you of the cost when processing your booking.
 

Tea and coffee is available at all workshops. Materials are always supplied unless specified. 
 

Class photos are there to give you a feel of what will take place in the class. It is not an exact representative of what you will be doing in the class.
 

All workshops are taught at the Art from the Heart studio unless stated otherwise and workshops are for adults only (16yrs upwards).
 

*The class must be booked within 3 months of you cancelling your class

*Workshops for guest tutors are non refundable, however we will try to sell on your place.

Come and join Dyan for a weekend of Art Journaling, a complete 101! Whether its where to start or how to continue on your journal journey. Beginning with inked and painted backgrounds, leading to borders, stenciing, stamping and masks. Thursday 19th April - Make & Create Journal Page with Tracy - 10-3pm
In this one day workshop not only will we be creating this beautiful double page spread but we will also be making our own stamps to include on the page.  It's so satisfying to know that you've created something genuinely unique and by making our own stamps to include on the page means that no two will ever be the same.  This class is suitable for beginners as well as accomplished artists. Friday 20th April - Fast & Fabulous Journaling with Tracy - 10-3pm
Come and spend the day with me playing in our journals... Do you spend more time hunting around for supplies, or trying to decide what to use than you do playing in your art journal...yes !!... Then join me as I explain tips and tricks that I use to get me playing in my journal every day....we will create pages in less than an hour that can either be left as is or be used as a springboard for continued play. Either way you'll be filling up your journal rather than wasting time deciding what to do !!!

Come along and join Kate on the continued messy, creative and colourful printing adventure! Kate will share further techniques and creative ideas on how to get the best out of your gel plate. We’ll avoid the temptation to pull of 100s of prints that we don’t know what to do with, but make each of our prints look beautiful, funky and vibrant. We’ll make tags, and journal pages, all experimenting with different techniques and wild colour combinations. Saturday 12th May - Brush Lettering Techniques and Affirmation Cards with Michelle - 10-3pm
In this workshop you will learn the technique of brush lettering, you'll be amazed at how quickly you will begin to see how creative your handwriting can be. I'll have worksheets to work though, I'll demonstrate how letters are formed and connected. I'll show the different styles using many different brush pens. You will also get your own Top Quality Tombow brush pen to start you on your journey included in the class to keep. We will put our new skills to use by making some affirmation cards that you can carry around with you for inspiration too. Please bring with you a pencil and rubber, and a small paint brush.

Friday 18th May - Mini Journaling with Kate - 10-3pm
Just like journaling …but on a tiny scale! Mini journaling can be done in any small notebook or sketchbook, but due to its compact size it is quick, accessible and a lot of fun! We’ll be making funky, colourful backgrounds and then adding tiny images and stamps to create glorious pages in miniature. Great for journaling on-the-go. Equipment needed: Small moleskine, mini notebook or sketchbook. Optional: Materials are provided but if you have any of the following you may find it useful to bring them along: Coloured pencils, white gel pen, fine black marker.

Saturday 19th May - Doodling with the Journal Block with Sandra - 10-3pm
Come and join Sandra where you will be creating a small flap book, before Sandra takes you step by step through a number of techniques to create fabulous monochromatic doodled pages. Please bring along your black and white journal pens.

Friday 25th May - Time for Tea! with Kate - 10-3pm
Being based in North Yorkshire of course we like to drink tea. But let’s not overlook the humble tea bag; it makes a perfect mini canvas for painting, drawing and collaging on. These delightful mini paintings can be framed, added to a concertina book, used on a greetings card, or collaged into your art journals. It’s fun, fun, fun on a tiny scale. Kate will show you how to prepare the tea bags ready for painting and then guide you through various different techniques to create your own mini masterpieces. Please bring paintbrushes and a white gel pen. Optional: Feel free to bring your own tea bags! After making your tea simply dry the bag on top of a piece of kitchen roll on a radiator. Being them along as they are and prepare them in class.

Saturday 26th May - Doodle your ART out with Dyan - 10-5pm
One of Dyans passions is doodling. She will doodle on anything that isn't moving! But although she makes it look easy, she is aware of others struggles. This class is your 101 of doodling from start to finish. You will be working in the black square journal with a white paint pen (both provided). First you will create a doodling matrix board, to practise your designs, before swiftly moving on to stencils, frames and oodles of ideas to take your doodling to the next level. Be warned, once you start you can't stop!! Includes a square Dylusions black journal and a white paint pen

Sunday 27th May - Dyalog-Art on the go with Dyan - 10-5pm
I’m always on the go and I always need my art with me, wherever I am. But it can be a struggle lugging your journals everywhere, plus its always the one I haven’t got that I want! Sounds familiar? Let me show you a way you can have a portable system to carry with yo - The Dyalog System! Todays workshop includes 3 inserts fro the Dyalog (Black, Blank, Grid & 1 Pocket). The morning will be preparing backgrounds ready for your travels. The afternoon will be spent setting up a six month log with yearly, monthly & weekly layouts.

Saturday 9th June - Dyalog Bullet Journaling to track & organise your life with Michelle - 10-3pm
In this workshop I'll introduce you to the world of "To Do" lists or "To Don't" lists, trackers, goal setting and some lettering techniques too. You will get your own dotted Dyalog book and we'll begin to fill in the pages with lists galore, plus inspirational quotes and doodles. It will be cram packed with ideas for pages that you'll enjoy filling in over the year. Once you start you'll be hooked and you won't believe how organised you can be. Sunday 10th June - Mini Books #2 with Kate - 10-3pm
Mini books can be made out of just about anything – chipboard, die cuts, scraps of mountboard….. and especially popular are the Eileen Hull dies for Sizzix which make perfect little book covers. Join Kate in the second part of these fun, creative and colourful classes for ideas on making journals in miniature. We’ll look at different ways to create the covers, as well as ideas for making and attaching signatures, using painting, printing, stamping, doodling, collage …. anything goes!

Friday 15th June - Decorated Canvas Tote with Tracy - 10-3pm
Come and spend a fun filled day with me as we decorate our own canvas tote bag.  We will collage, stamp, stencil, paint and more to create our one of a kind bag.  This class is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced artists. Saturday 16th June - Watercoloured Doodled Feathers with Tracy - 10-3pm
I just love me a bit of doodling, my beloved watercolours and feathers so of course what else could I do but combine them into this one day class.  We will sketch our feather shapes and lay down our base watercolours and I will show you a couple of techniques for doing so and then the fun begins.... We will turn these beautiful bright watery feathers into real works of art.  Prepare for a relaxing day and be warned...it's addictive!!  This class is suitable for beginners as well as accomplished artists. Step by step instructions will be given.  Please bring you black and white journalling pens (these are available to purchase in the shop if you do not already have them) I have also used some gold gel pen. Watercolours are available in the studio. FYI I will be using my Prima watercolours.

Saturday 7th July - Painted Rocks with Michelle - 10-3pm
The Kindness Rock Project is a new craze of painting rocks and placing them somewhere to put a smile on someone's face or giving the rock to a dear friend. Rocks are a wonderful surface to paint on, and you can varnish them, and they will keep forever in a pot in the garden, on your doorstep or as a paperweight on your desk. Mandala's look fantastic on them, as do quotes and bright colours. The possibilities are endless. In this workshop I'll show you how best to paint on rocks, what designs really work well and how to preserve them. I'll have a few of my own designs which I'll walk through how to do. Please bring a very fine tip paint brush, a white Signo pen and your reading glasses if you need them for close-up work.

Dyan is well known for her love of collage and the quirky, innovative way she uses it. Come and join her as she takes you on a journey from magazine to masterpiece. Be mesmerised by these colourful dot mandalas.  Let me show you how to create a grid, experiment with different dotting tools, and consistency of paints to ensure the best results.  But be warned...it's addictive!! Have you ever wondered what to do with all those left over painted papers, gelli prints, old tags, papers etc? Saturday 28th July - More Brush lettering & Modern Calligraphy with Michelle - 10-3pm
More Brush lettering and Modern Calligraphy Practice is the key to improving your brush lettering so why not make it a regular class? Every class will be different with new quotes and more techniques to add to your developing skill. We'll be exploring different surfaces and mediums to use as well as writing out fun exercises together and sharing notes. There will be step-by-steps and easy to follow instructions as we build on our knowledge and watch our skills grow. We'll also explore the uses of modern calligraphy and brush lettering in our art projects from art journaling to wall hangings. Suitable for beginners and intermediates. Please always bring with you, a pencil, eraser, black brush pen (Tombow Hard, available in the Art from the heart shop) and any coloured brush pens you'd like to bring.

7/8/9th September - Altered Book Journey weekend with Dyan Reaveley
Fri 10-5pm Sat 10-5pm - 5-9.30pm studio time ​​​​​​​Sun 10-4pm Before art journaling I spent a few years in the art of making altered books. Whilst tidying out my studio I came across a basket full and they brought back such good memories that I want to return and make some more.  I would love you to join me on that journey, taking an old book and totally transforming it into an item of fabulousness. The journey begins on Friday when we will gluing pages for stability and making a secret drawer before adding various paint effects.  Saturday we will start adding secret pockets, flaps tags, folded pages, frames and a whole lot more. Saturday night you will have open studio time to either work on your project or just relax in the company of others.  Sunday we will be adding the ephemera and embellishments to make your altered book truly unique.  Who can resist three full days of artistic inspiration and one evening of playtime? ​​​​​​​ All materials, lunch, snacks and Sat evening pizza will be provided.  If you have any particular ephemera etc you would like to use please feel free to bring it
